Monique Lyman joined the St Augustine Montessori Community in the 2022/2023 school year. Ms. Monique began working in education in 2006 teaching abroad in Spain but her Montessori journey began when she was introduced to the philosophy while working for The International School of Bangkok. Since then she has worked in Montessori settings as both an Early Childhood Guide and Assistant. Ms. Monique believes that pairing a Montessori environment with the principles of Conscious Discipline creates an enriching and fruitful space for children’s emotional and holistic growth.

Ms. Monique cherishes adventures with her husband and two children. At home, she enjoys creating inviting spaces, studying the art of permaculture and cooking with family and friends. She practices Yoga and Qi-Gong and enjoys incorporating those practices in the classroom to promote mindfulness and self-awareness amongst the young students.

Academically, she earned a BA in Psychology and Philosophy from The University of Central Florida. In 2013, she obtained her Montessori Credential from Maitland Montessori. She attended Conscious Discipline Institutes in both Aruba and Florida and continues to train in this philosophy.
